Why Free Blogs Are Not Recommended

Blogging has become pretty popular among everyday web surfers. When it comes to monetizing your site and creating a niche blog of some sort, there are many reasons why I do not recommend using free blogging platforms.

Sure, Blogger and WordPress are great for small personal blogs that you do not intend to publicize very much. I’m going to list 5 main reasons why I do not suggest getting a sub domain type of blogging for your niche blogs. (Example: blogname.wordpress.com or blogger.com/blogname)

Reason #1 – Customization

The Blogger and WordPress free blogs are great, however, they limit in the customizations of the theme and the layout.

You want to be able to modify your source, upload files, delete files, or all of the above when it comes to your niche blogs. This type of freedom is not given to you when you’re running on the free blogger platforms.

Reason #2 – Statistics, Tracking, & SEO

Having the ability to track your visitors, crawling rates, customize SEO options, and many other options that you can have, not all of these options are given to you when you’re using free blog makers.

Reason #3 – Domain Name

When you create a sub domain for a blogging website, putting all that hard work into optimizing your blog and building backlinks will simply go to waste. Why would you build backlinks and create a quality niche blog for someone else? In this case, you’re creating a quality blog for blogger or wordpress, not for yourself. If you want to take your blog to a high level, having your own domain name is vital.

Reason #4 – Professionalism

Having a real domain name will make your site look more professional. This will only cost a few bucks and I highly recommend it.

  1. I would say, Professionalism is the Big Point here! Having a sub-domain for the Blog appears cheap.
